Ingredients You’ll Need

  • greek yogurt – protein-packed Greek yogurt takes the place of mayo or egg yolks, but you could use regular yogurt or even mayonnaise if that’s all you have on hand.
  • olive oil – I like to use a good quality extra virgin olive oil that doesn’t have to be expensive, just make sure it’s cold-pressed and organic for the most flavor.
  • lemon juice – this adds such a fresh taste and brightens up the whole dressing, don’t skip! Feel free to add in a little lemon zest too if you want even more lemon flavor.
  • dijon mustard – this adds a little zip and helps to emulsify the dressing. You could also use stone ground mustard.
  • garlic – fresh garlic tastes SO good in this recipe, but feel free to use one teaspoon of garlic powder in place of fresh garlic.
  • worcestershire sauce – adds a savory umami flavor to the dressing and takes the place of anchovy fillets typically used in traditional caesar dressings, but feel free to use anchovy paste, capers or even fish sauce, if you prefer.
  • parmesan cheese – make sure to use freshly grated parmesan cheese, pecorino romano cheese or grated parmigiano reggiano cheese.
  • salt + black pepper – brings all these flavors together.

How to Make Healthy Caesar Dressing

  1. Blend the ingredients. Add the Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to a small blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. You can also whisk everything together in a glass jar or small mixing bowl until well combined and creamy.
  2. Thin the dressing. Add water one tablespoon at a time, whisking after each addition until the dressing reaches your preferred consistency.
  3. Chill and serve. For the best flavor, refrigerate the dressing for about 20–30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Make it lighter – use nonfat Greek yogurt.
  • Extra cheesy – add another tablespoon of Parmesan.
  • More lemon flavor – add additional lemon zest.
  • Spicy Caesar – stir in a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Dairy-free – substitute a thick dairy-free Greek-style yogurt and dairy-free Parmesan.
  • Anchovy flavor – add one finely minced anchovy filet or ½ teaspoon anchovy paste for a more traditional Caesar taste.

Ways to Use This Dressing

  • Dressing for this healthy chicken Caesar salad or these chicken caesar wraps

  • Use it as a dip for veggies, wings, shrimp or fries
  • Add it to quinoa or other grain bowls
  • Makes a great dressing for pasta salads too!

Storing and Prepping

This dressing will last up to 1 week in the fridge in an airtight container, but definitely tastes best as fresh as possible. Since homemade dressings don’t contain preservatives, it’s normal for the dressing to thicken slightly as it chills. Simply whisk in a splash of water or lemon juice before serving to restore the perfect consistency.

Hooray! My favorite salad dressing, made healthy! I rarely use 2 Tablespoons of any dressing, that’s a lot of flavor and creaminess for 50 calories. Thank you.
