This Marinated Turmeric Ginger Grilled Chicken is super quick to make, full of flavor and is filled with delicious ingredients that boost immunity and health!
So has anyone else started January Whole 30 this year??
I always like to do it the first of the year because it’s such a great detox after the holidays and boy does my body really need it. The problem is I seem to always find myself in a rut with what recipes to make since it does take a lot of planning and prep. This recipe was one that was inspired by a salad I recently had and the marinade is absolutely amazing! Not only is this dish Whole 30 compliant (and paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free, and low carb), but it is super easy to make and just bursting with TONS of flavor!
I didn’t have any on hand at the time, but I do want to note that this chicken pairs PERFECTLY with cauliflower rice! Trust me, just do it. You could also use regular white or brown rice, quinoa or top it on a salad like I did here. This recipe is definitely a new favorite of ours and the benefits of turmeric, garlic and ginger are just so good for you!
Turmeric and ginger are great anti-inflammatories with tons of health benefits, while the coconut milk really coats the chicken well giving it such a rich flavor that tastes absolutely amazing when combined with the garlic, cumin and lime juice. I highly recommend marinating the chicken overnight as that gives it more time for everything to soak in, but if you are making this in a pinch, 1 to 2 hours will work just fine.
I’m constantly trying to find new ways to use turmeric as it’s one of those unique ingredients that taste so good when mixed with a combination of spices. This sauce would be amazing as a stir fry or even as a one pot meal with veggies. Also, if you like a lot of spice on your chicken, feel free to punch this up with some cayenne pepper, red chili flakes or a drizzle of hot sauce!
If you like turmeric, then you will LOVE this Creamy Tomato Hummus Soup as well as this Detox Immune-Boosting Chicken Soup, especially with how COLD the weather has been lately! Those soups definitely warm the soul and will have you feeling better in not time 🙂
Hope you all enjoy this marinated turmeric ginger chicken as much as we did! Let me know if you are doing Whole 30 or if anyone is interested in starting – I’m planning on writing a whole post sharing my experience along with recipes I enjoyed and tips/tricks to staying on track. Whole 30 can be tough to get started due to all the prepping and lack of any and all sugar, but just remember you can do ANYTHING for 30 days!

I made this for dinner last night and paired it with some coconut rice.. Delicious! Next time I’ll use more chicken since I was still a little hungry after clearing my plate haha
Made this today and it was delicious!
I left out the ginger and the flavours were still strong.
Will be making this again in the future with pomegranate.
This recipe looks amazing!

Have a nice day!
For the turmeric ginger marinade grilled chicken could you use stovetop or oven. I don’t have a barbecue to grill but the recipe looks amazing and would like to try it.
This looks amazing! I’m always looking for new ways to marinate chicken and I love using turmeric! I have done 2 Whole30’s during 2017 and really liked it. Thank you for posting this recipe! I am also new to your page and have found it very refreshing. Thank you again, you have gained a new follower!!
Hi! This looks great! But where is the dressing for the salad? Do you maybe double up the marinade and then use that for the dressing? Thanks!
Can you use almond mik instead of coconut milk ?
I haven’t tried almond milk with this recipe, but I’m sure you could – it might just alter the taste a bit 🙂
Forgot to add… while I’m here – I notice this is keto. have been looking a lot into ketogenic diets for myself and for my daughter who has autism.
Ive read up on the benefits of a keto diet for autism and have also read up on the health benefits regarding cancer for a ketogenic diet.
My family has a lot of history of Cancer (grandad, mum, sister and so on.) and at age 45(almost) Im keen to find out more and more about keto.
Whats holding me back though is any concret proof of “long term” health issues from eating higher fatty diets (keto) – unless I am wrong… Ive read up on the studies of good fats and bad fats and how it controversially goes against what traditional heath practitioners claim for a healthy diet (ie fruit and veg).
I suppose what Im trrying to ask or be convinced about are wether or not eating a keto diet for life could lead to higher heart attack rates and so on..
I know it is : very low carb… almost no fruits.. plenty of veggies and pretty much zero fruits (sugars that can cause/feed cancer cells) and Ive followed another keto guy who uses a lot of grass fed butter in his diet – but is this healthy for the heart – arghh wish we had positive proof.. He also intermittent fasts for 16 hours a day then gorges on all thjis goods food… he looks in fantastic shape.. but would be GOOD to hear from doctors who could “look inside his body” or inside the body of any keto practitioner and say “actually your bodys in incredible shape”…
Thats really whats holding me back, so its more of a slow learning curve.. Id love to hear back from you on this matter

o… m… g…. this looks “divine”. No other word for it to be honest! Having (for the millionth time in my life) gotten into healthy eating (again….) and have switched from “crap” food and alcohol to veggies, lean chicken and other meats, fruits and plenty of water. We’ve also bought a treadmill for the garage which we’ve been using every other day. Looking forward to expanding on our range of meals to include this. Thanks for preparing the recipe and pictures. Will probably do this tomorrow once we’ve ben to buy more supplies 🙂
