Creamy and delicious Chocolate Avocado Pudding made with just a few simple ingredients and packed with healthy fats!

One thing I absolutely LOVE about cooking healthy is finding fun substitutions for all those unhealthy ingredients that are typically called for in indulgent sinful recipes.  It’s certainly no secret that avocado is a favorite sub used in many recipes, especially in baking, so why not chocolate?!

Oh yes, get excited.

The thing I love most about using avocados in recipes is not only do they make everything so uber creamy, you also can’t even taste them!  Avocados are the perfect healthy fat packed with tons of fiber and vitamins so I love any excuse I can get to add them into my diet – especially with chocolate (duh).  They make a great substitute for butter, oil, or even mayonnaise in many recipes, another I’ll even be sharing tomorrow.  Baking with it has seriously changed my life, along with Greek yogurt which you’ll also find in this pudding that also helps make this sweet treat oh so creamy!

I should also probably mention how freakin’ EASY this is to make.  Throw all ingredients into a blender or food processor, mix until smooth and DONE.  Eat right away or save for later when you need to indulge that insane chocolate fix you’ve been craving all day.

Actually my favorite way to eat this is by dipping strawberries in it!  I eat fruit every day as my mid-morning snack so this was a nice change to my weekly meal plan.  Try cutting up bananas, apples or even dipping some pretzels!  You really can’t go wrong, I mean when isn’t it a good time for chocolate??  Enjoy!

One thing I will note is don’t be afraid of the FAT in this recipe!  Seriously.  I will repeat again, avocado is a healthy fat which is really good for your body.  When I was adding up the calorie content in this recipe I realized the majority of the calories and fat came from the avocados, but all the fiber comes from them too!  So don’t be scurred friends – it’s okay to enjoy something sweet now and then and it’s even better when you can sneak those healthy foods in, masking them under chocolate!

Perfect for your kiddos too!

Definitely gets rid of that chocolate craving when eating healthy. It is very rich! Good to trick the kids with. Even better with strawberries! Thank you for the recipe!

Can you say pudding pops? How do you think these would freeze? Would the avocado turn to mush?

This looked so good, but it did not turn out well for me. It was so bitter we couldn’t eat it. I doubled the recipe, Perhaps that is the problem? Wondering if the ratios need to be adjusted and can’t just double them?

Hmm I’m stumped as to why it turned out bitter? If you doubled the recipe the pudding probably didn’t need double the cocoa powder which could have made it quite bitter – I’m so sorry it didn’t work out for you!

Going to try to make this tonight! Can it be made vegan by using coconut milk yogurt? Also I am running low on honey, wondering if agave nectar would work? It’s a little thinner than honey so I’m not sure if I’d really be messing with the texture. Thanks!

Yes those should work great as substitutes 🙂 Let me know how it turns out!
