Ingredients You’ll Need

  • hummus – this takes the place of refried black beans in typical 7 layer dip recipes and I used a spicy flavored hummus which gave this dip a nice kick!  Any type of hummus will work though in this recipe.
  • guacamole – creamy avocado in my homemade guacamole helps make this dip so creamy and the zesty lime juice adds a pop of flavor!
  • salsa – any chunky salsa will work great!  Feel free to make your own (I love this recipe), you could use pico de gallo in place of the salsa, or you can use your favorite jar from the store!  A corn and black bean salsa would taste amazing in this, just saying 😉
  • Greek yogurt – this takes the place of sour cream in this dip and you’ll need 1 1/2 cups of plain Greek yogurt.  You could also mix in some cream cheese to make the yogurt layer thicker or use dairy-free yogurt, if needed.
  • taco seasoning – I like to use my homemade taco seasoning, but store-bought seasoning is fine too.
  • cheese – I prefer to use shredded Mexican cheese in this dip, but you could use shredded cheddar cheese, colby jack or mozzarella cheese.
  • toppings – I used a combination of chopped roma tomatoes, sliced olives and green onions, but you could also add some chopped bell pepper, sliced jalapenos for some spice, shredded lettuce or herbs like cilantro.

How to Make 7 Layer Taco Dip

  1. Mix in the seasoning.  In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt and 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning until completely combined.  This will be one of the layers of our dip!
  2. Add the layers.  In the bottom of an 8×8 or 7×11-inch baking dish (or you could make this fancy inside a trifle bowl!), spread an even layer of hummus first followed by a layer of guacamole, spreading evenly.  Follow that with a layer of salsa, then the taco seasoned Greek yogurt.
  3. Add toppings.  Sprinkle on the shredded cheese followed by diced tomatoes, black olives and green onions.  Cover and chill the dip in the fridge until ready to serve!

How to Serve 7 Layer Taco Dip

  • Perfect for football season and tailgates served with tortilla chips and fresh cut veggies.
  • Serve as an appetizer on taco night.
  • Use as a flavorful topping on tacos, enchiladas or fajitas.
  • Add in a layer of seasoned ground beef, ground chicken or ground turkey for a more filling dip.

Prepping and Storing

This 7 layer taco dip will last about 3 days in the refrigerator in a sealed, airtight container.  Unfortunately the avocado in the guacamole starts to brown after a few days and the dish becomes watery due to the layer of salsa so I highly recommend enjoying this dip as fresh as possible!

This sounds so good and much healthier than the typical taco dip you see at parties. Will definitely be adding this to my arsenal, especially because I love Sabra so much!
